HATS big and small were paraded through the city yesterday.
A fiesta-style event kicked off in King's Square and made its way to The Cross.
It marked the start of the second annual Gloucester Hat Festival.
Julie Lewis was there in a homemade polka dot blue creation with daughter Alice, 11 in a hot pink number.
Julie said: "I really enjoy making things.
"Anything arty or crafty we will be there.
"I think it's important to have lots for children and young people to do in Gloucester."
Festival co-organiser and local milliner Fern Berreen helped carry a five foot papier mache hat through the streets.
It was made by 250 schoolchildren earlier this year.
Fern said: "The festival is about putting on a hat and changing the way you think.
"Everyone has a head so everyone can wear a hat and take part."
