Music lovers are today flocking to Gloucestershire in their thousands, to set up camp for the 2000trees festival. Boasting a line-up including Frank Turner, Mystery Jets and Funeral for a Friend, 2000trees is a celebration of underground British music. Running over three days at Upcote Farm, Withington, the festival offers revellers the chance to discover their new favourite band. "Bands that you'll be telling your mates about for months and years to come. Bands that are either brand-spanking new or have spent far too long flying below the mainstream radar," organisers say. Now in its seventh year, 2000trees will host more than 80 acts including Nine Black Alps, We Are The Ocean, Stornoway and Stealing Sheep. Having originated with six friends sat around a campfire complaining about the state of UK festivals, 2000trees has grown from 1,000 people in 2007, its first year, to 4,500 today. "We are all about promoting up-and-coming bands," said festival co-founder James Scarlett. "There's really something for everyone, there's a great selection. We suggest people pick up a programme, which explains what the acts sound like, and get out there and go find their new favourite band." Frank Turner will headline the Main Stage on Friday, following King Charles, Funeral for a Friend and Nine Black Alps. Meanwhile Adebisi Shank, InMe, Childhood and The Family Rain will perform in The Cave and The Leaf Lounge. Mystery Jets and Stornoway will dominate the Main Stage on Saturday, coming after Dry The River, We Are The Ocean and Fighting With Wire. Festival-goers setting up camp today can enjoy Future of the Left and The Xcerts in The Cave, and the likes of Duncan Oakley, Fern Brady and Danny Sutcliffe in The GreenHouse. And there'll be no need for wellies - the weather forecast is dry and sunny for the entire weekend. The mercury could climb to 24C on Friday, while on Saturday revellers are set to bask in 26-28C temperatures. "It's the best weather we've ever had for the festival," said James. "We'll have to make sure people drink plenty of water as well as cider!" In addition to the bill of new, underground music, organisers pride themselves on offering "the very best in local, sustainable and free range food at affordable prices". On the menu are Farm Assured organic burgers and wood fired pizzas, and the festival caters to both veggies and vegans. Gluten-free products are also available. 2000trees also stocks local ales, lagers and ciders, as well as premium spirits and cocktails. The winner of the 2010 Grass Roots Festival Award and the 2008 A Greener Festival gong, 2000trees is known for its authenticity and environmentally-friendly policies. Power and lighting is produced using locally-sourced chip-fat biodiesel, which in 2012 ensured 2000trees saved more than 4.5 tonnes of carbon. The majority of the food and drink is locally produced, and served in either reusable or biodegradable containers. And all 2000trees acts are UK-based, resulting in fewer miles travelled to reach the festival and zero use of air transport. 2000trees was also deemed to have the second-best toilets at the UK Festival Awards 2010. Previous 2000trees acts include The Subways, Frightened Rabbit, Hundred Reasons, Twin Atlantic and Pulled Apart By Horses. There are a few remaining 2000trees tickets on sale, and tickets will also be on sale at the door. Saturday-only tickets are available.
