FAMOUS for ringing the church bells across the city, town crier Alan Myatt went to Downing Street to hand in a petition calling for Shakespeare Day.
He wants the famous playwright to be celebrated in Britain each year on April 23.
Mr Myatt, who is also a character actor, was among those who handed in the petition to the Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street on Monday.
He is actively involved in the campaign to start it from next year as he is also Stratford-upon-Avon crier.
The petition is backed by personalities including Sir Ian McKellen, Jo Brand and Stephen Fry, alongside organisations such as Eton College and the British Museum.
