WHEN Tuffley mum Naomi Davies tucked into dinner with her family, she got more than she bargained for.
She found a hair in her daughter's garlic bread and the meat in her chicken pie was pink at The Haywain pub, in Quedgeley last Friday. She said: "The meat was pink so I sent it back. I was told that it couldn't possibly be undercooked because all their food is pre-prepared and brought in.
"The final straw was when we found a hair in my daughter's garlic bread. It really puts you off your food when you see something like that."
Marston's, who own the pub, investigated, and said the meat was pink because it had been discoloured by another ingredient.
Nick Goodwin, operations manager, said: "Our suppliers investigated a batch sample and found that the chicken was fully cooked – having undergone rigorous core temperature analysis at all stages of the preparation process – but has a slight pink colour from one of the other ingredients in the pie filling.
"We have been in direct contact with Ms Davies and offered a full explanation for her experience at this pub, as Marston's takes customer service very seriously."
