SOLDIERS fighting to protect their country are being remembered this week.
Saturday marks Armed Forces Day and residents in Tewkesbury are being urged to turn their thoughts to military men and women all this week.
A special flag raising ceremony was held by Tewkesbury Borough Council yesterday outside the authority's offices in Gloucester Road.
It was led by the borough mayor Councillor Claire Wright, who was joined by representatives from ARRC, as well as council staff and councillors.
She said: "Armed Forces Day gives us the opportunity to show our gratitude to everyone who serves, or has served, in the Armed Forces.
"We all lead busy lives and it can be so easy to let their hard work and dedication to our country pass us by.
"I hope our ceremony will really highlight our support and admiration for what they do."
