A man who put his neighhbours through a 'living nightmare' has been evicted from his Gloucester flat.
Richard Richards, 28, was kicked out of his flat in Fountain Square, Westgate, for 'swerious noise nuisance,' according to Gloucester City Homes.
A judge granted an eviction order against Mr Richards at a county court hearing on June 11, for causing 'sustained and persistent nuisance' towards his neighbours.
The court heard of incidents involving unruly visitors, noise at all hours of the day and night as well as other anti-social activities.
Mr Richards had had his noise-making equipment seized by Gloucester City Council Environmental Health Team twice in six weeks after ignoring a Noise Abatement Notice which was served only two months after he took the tenancy.
The court gave Gloucester City Homes immediate possession and applied for a warrant to ensure his eviction.
Sara Hendry, Anti- Social Behaviour Team Manager for Gloucester City Homes, said: "As a social landlord Gloucester City Homes' first priority is to provide residents with a secure home that they can live in, in peace and without fear.
"Eviction is always a last resort and our anti-social behaviour team will first try to work with tenants like Mr Richards to get them to change their behaviour. However, we will take this firm cause of action if they are unwilling to change and continue to blight the lives of others."
Neighbours today spoke of their joy at the news that Mr Richards will not be returning to Fountain Square where he had lived for only four months.
One witness who did not want to be identified for fear of retribution, said: "I was in a living nightmare. I got to the stage where I was staying with friends at weekends just so I could get some sleep."
Elaina Gardiner, Anti-social Behaviour Officer, who dealt with the eviction, said: "The safety and well-being of Mr Richards' neighbours was our main concern and the distress he was causing them was unacceptable. We are pleased that their nightmare has now come to an end and they can return to living in peace."
