Witness appeal after man, 30, in park attack

AN assault in Cheltenham early yesterday morning left a 30-year-old man needing 10 stitches to a split lip.

Gloucestershire police are appealing for information after the man was assaulted in Winston Churchill Memorial Park just past midnight yesterday.

The Cheltenham man was with two men and two women in the park when the assault took place.

Police believe he was punched by a man described as white, around 30 years old, 5ft 9ins tall, muscular and with short brown hair.

The victim was found by a woman in nearby Hungerford Street around 12.25am, and was sent to Cheltenham General Hospital then Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.

He has been released from hospital.

Anyone who was part of the group or saw the group is urged to call 101, quoting incident 13 of June 20.
