THE Duke of Kent made a whistle-stop tour of some of the leading companies in the Cotswolds last week.
The Duke visited Campden BRI, a company that provides research, analysis and consultancy for the food and drink industry worldwide.
The Duke was welcomed by Prof Steven Walker, Campden BRI Director General, before being given a tour of the company's headquarters in Chipping Campden, including its industry-leading analytical laboratories and pilot bakery.
Prof Walker said that since the Duke's last visit in 1994, the company had achieved record profit and tripled its turnover despite the challenging economic climate, and has set an ambitious growth plan for the next three years.
Campden BRI employs nearly 400 staff and has over 2,000 members including household names such as Sainsbury's, Warburtons, Heinz and Kellogg's.
The Duke of Kent also visited Cotek Papers at Draycott Business Park , near Moreton-in- Marsh, which makes coated paper and film products for a variety of uses from hygiene to the food industry.
Cotek Papers managing director Scott Hazell said the Duke took a keen interest in businesses with a high level of technical competence.
The Duke of Kent also went to the Cotswold Motoring Museum in Bourton-on-the-Water and unveiled a plaque marking the 90th anniversary of the CSMA Club, the civil service motoring organisation which owns the centre.
