HELP is at hand for new carers in Gloucestershire.

The county council is highlighting the need to support new carers in carers week from June 10 to 16.

Gloucestershire Young Carers will be at Gloucestershire College's Llanthony Road campus between 11.30am and 1.30pm today, raising awareness of the young carers strand of the Gloucestershire Healthy Living and Learning Award.

And on Saturday, June 15 there is a special "Walk A Mile In My Shoes" event in Gloucester Park from 11am organised by Carers Gloucestershire, featuring Citizen Editor Jenny Eastwood and her Gloucestershire Echo counterpart Kevan Blackadder.

Gloucestershire County Council uses £1.25million to fund 13 organisations to work with carers, including those who are new to caring. For new carers who may feel unsupported, information and advice is available through a range of organisations including Carers Gloucestershire on 01452 386 283.
