BOSSES at Cheltenham Borough Council have denied that leisure@cheltenham opened late last month because an employee was found sleeping naked in a hot tub.
The leisure centre, in Tommy Taylor's Lane, did not open on time on May 18 amid rumours a member of staff had gone straight to work from a night out, falling asleep in a hot tub in the nude.
General manager Stephen Petherick declined to comment on the Facebook rumours, claiming instead that the delay had been due to "staff illness".
He added that it was not appropriate to comment on an internal investigation which took place into the incident.
He said: "Disruption to service and breaches in policy are taken very seriously.
"The late opening had been due to staff sickness and following an investigation, action has been taken in accordance with the council's disciplinary rules where applicable and changes have been made where required."
