PLANS for 76 homes are set to be approved by councillors next week.
Persimmon's proposal for 58 houses on a former golf driving range in Matson, and Greensquare Group's application for 18 homes on a former pub site in Podsmead Avenue, have been recommended to get planning permission when Gloucester City Council considers them next Tuesday.
Its planning committee will see plans for the site next to the Hallmark Hotel, which detail 50 houses plus eight affordable homes.
Labour ward councillor Jan Lugg said some neighbours were unhappy but she expected the plans to go through.
"They got permission for 14 homes where the driving range buildings were," she said.
"They got permission for that because it would not have an effect on traffic in Matson Lane. I think this many is pushing it. The original plan was for more homes but they have slipped back down."
There were seven letters of objection and extra traffic was a major concern but Gloucestershire County Council highways chiefs were satisfied with the plans, and the developer must put £36,000 towards a better bus service.
Persimmon is likely to have to put up £11,000 towards library provision, £100,000 towards sports facilities, and £50,000 towards play facilities.
Robinswood Primary School objected over concerns the development could flood it and the council will want to be satisfied Persimmon can ameliorate that problem before it gets the go-ahead.
The committee will also consider an application for the former The Jet and Whittle pub in Shakespeare Avenue.
There were no objections to the application to build the homes on the derelict pub site.
Plans for 40 and 30 homes there have been approved in the past six years, as has an application to demolish the pub.
