JOURNALISM is under the spotlight like never before.
Love it or loathe it, the press is a cornerstone of society and The Citizen is proud to back Local Newspaper Week, championing the hard work of newspapers like this one up and down the country.
In the past year we have told you about a nepotism scandal at Gloucester City Council, revealed how a mum-of-11 will be moving into a purpose-built tax-payer funded 'mansion' and shouted about the great work being done across our city.
And that's just a tiny fraction of the stories we have endeavoured to bring you.
It's an exciting time for The Citizen with a new editor, Jenny Eastwood at the helm, the first female editor in the newspaper's history. And with a new website as well, at gloucestercitizen.co.uk, we are bringing you news online, in print and on your mobile.
We asked some of you for your thoughts on The Citizen.
Grace Baker, from Abbeydale, said: "I like everything about The Citizen and always read the family announcements. I also like the bygones feature and would like to see more of those appearing."
Edna Grill, from Meadowleaze, said: "I like The Citizen, I have had it for years. I like the local news and the crossword feature."
Caroline Esson, of White City, said: "I like The Citizen because it keeps me informed of local events and everything that is happening in the city.
"It produces output for small community groups to share their stories both good and bad."
Lisa Jones, of Coney Hill, added: "The Citizen is fab for local news, community updates and sports."
