IRON man Sean Conway is diving into his next big challenge.
Sean Conway, 32, from Charlton Kings, is attempting to swim the length of Britain this July to raise money for charity.
The trip, which starts at Land's End in Cornwall to John O'Groats in Scotland, will see him take on the rough seas along the coast.
The 1,000-mile expedition will start July 3 at 10am from Cornwall, with the athlete going up the west coast, of the country, through the Hebrides and around to John O'Groats.
The trip means Sean will swim the equivalent of the English Channel every day in order to complete the journey within two months – before the water gets too cold again.
Although he admitted he had little training, the adventurer is aiming to be the first person to swim the length of the UK.
He said: "I was inspired by my friend last year.
"I know people have tried cycling the length before, but when I asked some of my swimming mates, we realised no one had done it before.
"I'm sure that, to swim it, it will be a lot harder, but because it was not done before, it will not be a race.
"I had to do swimming at school, but that is all the training I've got.
"Right now, I will need to nail down my technique and make sure I am strong enough to escape injury.
"There are many challenges, including cold water, loneliness, hunger and potential bacterial infection."
Sean, who suffered major spinal injuries just last year, completed the Fisherman's Friend Strongman Run earlier this month.
He will be completing the challenge for charity War Child, which protects children from the brutal effects of war and help rebuild their lives.
