Parents are being reminded to avoid the horrors of Halloween by the county council's trading standards team and the fire service.
They are asking people to follow a few rules to keep their families safe.
Shire Hall bosses have put together a list of simple measures designed to protect children as they trick, treat and celebrate all things spooky.
The list includes only allow children access to toy axes, swords and other costume accessories under strict supervision and keeping flowing items such as fake beards and capes away from naked flames such as candles.
Eddie Coventry, head of Trading Standards, said: "As children celebrate Halloween a range of colourful costumes and decorations make their appearance. We want to remind parents to buy from reputable shops and to be aware of the risks consumers face."
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service is reminding people of the safety risks that exist at this time of year.

Chief Fire Officer Jon Hall said: "Understandably, there is a lot of excitement at this time of year and we don't want to stop children having fun, but we would ask that parents take extra care to make sure Halloween is a happy time and not a nightmare."
