GERMAN cars are famous for their roomy interiors.

And it was just as well when new mum Jacqueline Turley almost gave birth in the passenger seat of her VW in the car park at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

A mad-dash from her Cinderford home across the county with husband Kevin at the wheel of their Sharan people carrier was held up by blocked roads and every traffic light turning red.

When they got lost and went to the wrong hospital entrance, Jacqueline, 29, couldn't hold on any longer.

"Kevin said let's just park in the Tower Block and get a wheelchair," she said.

"We stopped at the pay machine in the car park and I thought 'I'm going to have the baby here'.

"Two women shut the car park off and came over to help. One reclined the car seat and one was brushing my hair, telling me it was going to be alright."

Shortly after a nurse and two midwives arrived to help out.

Jacqueline was put on a trolley and wheeled into Tower Block. Then her waters broke.

"The porters were screaming for people to get out of the way," she said.

"My mum took her shoes off to run after me.

"They got me into the delivery suite, put me on the bed and gave me gas and air. I had one suck and said 'oh my god, something has come out'.

"My husband looked down and saw the baby's head. I was only in the delivery suite for a few minutes."

Georgia-Rose was born at 3.48pm on April 27, just 24 minutes after her parents arrived in the car park.

Midwives were amazed at the mum's labour and delivery, with just a few seconds of pain relief.

Kevin, a 46-year-old GIS Healthcare factory worker, has kept their car park ticket for posterity.

Georgia-Rose has been welcomed into the family by her two brothers, two-year-old Jackson Reeve, named after Michael Jackson and Superman star Christopher Reeve, and Memphis-Ray, six.

The family now want to get in touch with the two women who helped out to say thanks.

One is described in her 30s with brown hair, the other is believed to be her mother.

Neither gave their names, but had been to hospital for an appointment.
