GLOUCESTERSHIRE'S newly elected UKIP councillors have received some celebrity backing.
Popular broadcaster Des Lynham has endorsed the party, revealing he voted for them on May 2 and even penning a song for Nigel Farage and the group.
He has re-written Send in the Clowns, mocking critics who lambasted UKIP before its huge gains in the local elections.
In Gloucestershire, three UKIP candidates were elected to the county council, all in Forest of Dean wards.
They have helped upset the balance of power at the formerly Conservative-controlled authority.
While the Tories still hold the most seats, they no longer have a ruling majority.
Meanwhile, the Liberal Democrats have elected Cheltenham councillor Colin Hay as their new county leader, succeeding Jeremy Hilton.
