POLICE are investigating after a pedestrian died in a collision with a car in the Forest of Dean.
The incident happened on the A4136 at 10.25pm on Thursday.
The collision happened between Brierley and the Mireystock Crossroads and involved a BMW 320 and two male pedestrians.
One of the men, a 41-year-old from Coleford, suffered fatal injuries in the incident. His next of kin has been informed.
The other man was taken to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
The driver of the car, a 65-year-old man from Longhope, and his passenger were uninjured in the incident.
Forest of Dean district councillor Bruce Hogan (L, Lydbrook and Ruardean) was one of the first on the scene.
He said: "My wife Denise drove past just a minute or so after it must have happened. She came running into the house saying she saw two people lying on the ground and one of them looked like her son, so I headed straight out there.
"When I arrived I could see that it wasn't him, but I saw one man being given CPR on the floor by someone who clearly knew what they were doing while the other was sat up looking out of breath.
"It is terrible. My wishes are with the families of those involved."
Gordon Peacock, owner of the Swan Lake Russian restaurant which is less than a mile from where the collision happened, said: "There are no pavements along there so he must have been walking in the road I guess. It is a shock, the road is normally reasonably quiet."
Any witnesses to the collision that haven't yet spoken to police officers are asked to call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 510 of May 9.
