Children play in drifts of blossom

DRIFTS of blossom covered a historic corner of Gloucester as children learned more about the city's heritage.

Children from Stroud Valleys Primary School were hit by the cherry blossom blizzard in St Lucy's Garden in Hare Lane, Gloucester.

The relatively late arrival of the spring weather means the blossom has been delayed – and it's started off the hay fever season too.

Hay fever sufferers have been warned to expect higher pollen counts as fruiting trees respond to the change in temperature and blossom.

However this weekend, with light rain expected today, and cloudy weather tomorrow, the pollen count is expected to be low.

The Stroud Valleys pupils didn't appear to suffer from sneezes on Thursday, while out on a trip to the Cathedral as part of their project comparing Gloucester and Stroud.
