CAPTAIN Michael Klinger has notched his first half-century at Bristol on a decent third morning for Gloucestershire.
Replying to Hampshire's 274 all out – and missing first-choice wieketkeeper Cameron Herring due to a bout of conjunctivitis – the County have reached at 97 without loss at lunch, with Klinger unbeaten on 53 and well supported by Chris Dent (37*).
Earlier Hampshire had added ten runs to their overnight score when James Tomlinson – who made a painstaking one from 50 balls - was surprised by a rising delivery from Craig Miles and was nicely caught by Alex Gidman at third slip.
Miles finished with four for 83 from 24.3 others, a more than respectable return for the 18-year-old in only his second first-class outing.
And it left visiting captain Jimmy Adams unbeaten on 138, having carried his bat magnificently to well and truly atone for his misguided decision at the toss.
