HOODS and brollies went up but Bisley children still processed down to the village wells for the 150th anniversary of their Ascension Day celebration yesterday.
The boys and girls from Bisley Blue Coat School first attended a service at the next door church conducted by guest, the former Bishop of Warrington, the Rt Rev David Jennings.
They then paraded in drizzling rain through the crowds too decorate the wells with flowers.
The ceremony, which began in 1863, gives thanks for the community's clean water.
"It was a bit wet and a little windy but still a colourful delight," parent Bairbre Lloyd said.
Families and visitors watched the traditional dressing of the Bisley wells with floral stars carried by pupils Polly Young, Ewan Gegg, Lydia Coysh and Ben Burwell.
Letters that spelled out the special date of Ascension AD2013 were then also displayed.
