GANGS of youths in Barton, Tredworth and White City are being broken up.
This week police authorised dispersal orders in all three areas.
It allows police officers or Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) to direct any groups of two or more to leave an area for 24 hours.
PC Rob Bolland said: "It gives us the power to move groups on if they are being intimidating.
"We also educate them and speak to their parents when necessary.
"Thirdly, we also divert them to youth groups and club in the area to make better use of their time."
Jerry Jenkinson, who lives in White City, said: "I think it is a very positive thing for the area.
"If it keeps the peace, then great. But I hope the police officers engage with the youngsters which I'm sure they will."
Pensioner Pat Scannell, from Tredworth, said: "It's great news for Tredworth.
"I think it is a really good idea and a lot of people in the area are talking about it.
"The police do a great job in Tredworth."
