MAY Day morning was one of the most beautiful for years as Morris men and ladies around the county danced to welcome spring.
On top of Painswick Beacon, Gloucestershire Morris and Stroud Morris were up with the lark to begin leaping and twirling by 5.30am.
"We kept on going until 6.25am. We were going to finish about 6.10am. It was absolutely fantastic," dancer Mike Boag said.
"The most important thing is to welcome the sun, otherwise it won't come up."
Morris dancers performed on May Hill and Coaley Peak too.
