PLANS for a new coffee shop in King's Walk have moved a step closer.
Proposals to knock the former Gifts Direct shop into the vacant store next to it have been approved by Gloucester City Council's planning committee.
Included in the application was a change of use from retail to mixed use, paving the way for a coffee shop.
The ground-floor space in the new larger unit will be 170 sq m. There will be no upper floor.
No large-scale changes are planned for the interior structure.
Costa Coffee is understood to be the chain interested in taking over the site.
