LIFELONG Cheltenham Town fan Laura Weston won't forget the day her husband-to-be got down on one knee at Whaddon Road.
Her new fiance Jeff Burford, from Battledown, had told her he would not be able to make Saturday's home game against Bradford City.
But, secretly hiding in the stands opposite her, he waited patiently for the half-time whistle before proposing on the pitch in front of more than 5,000 applauding football fans.
"It was a big surprise," said Laura, 29, who attends Robins' home games with her dad. "I had no idea it was coming.
"Jeff said he couldn't make the game because he was working. I was then called onto the pitch and I was asked if I had anyone special in my life.
"When I said his name, Jeff appeared out of the tunnel and I just burst into tears.
"I was so surprised, I don't think I even said 'yes' until we walked back into the stand. It was a nice sentiment.
"He has known for a long time that I am Cheltenham Town fan and has started coming to games with us."
Jeff said: "I was very nervous – I kept an eye on the clock throughout the first half. I am surprised that I came through because I am normally quite a shy and reserved person. But it went perfectly."
Laura added: "It will be a church wedding, but I think we will try to have our reception at the club. There might be ruby bridesmaid dresses."
