A CHURCHDOWN man who threatened a postman while brandishing a knife and fork failed to turn up to court as he gets confused with dates.

Peter Chaloner was due at Gloucester Crown Court last week for sentencing, but was arrested at his St John's Avenue home after a warrant was issued.

The 43-year-old previously admitted charges of assault, using threatening and abusive language, possession of a knife in a public area, and possession of cannabis at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court.

He attacked a manager at the Co-op store in St John's Avenue, Churchdown, before threatening postman Stephen Voyce.

Cannabis was then found at his home on arrest.

Judge Jamie Tabor QC asked Chaloner why he did not turn up to court.

He said: "I can't remember honestly."

Mr Tabor then asked if he had fallen back to drug addiction to which Chaloner said yes. He was remanded in custody until sentencing on May 17.
