FOOTBALL fans are being shown pictures of a suspect wanted for an attempted rape in Brunswick Street at Whaddon Road today.
Supporters are being given flyers featuring a sketch of the suspect as they leave the ground after the Cheltenham Town vs Bradford City match.
The club had beaten Torquay United on the afternoon of the incident on February 2 and police believe supporters out celebrating the win may have seen the suspect.
Around 4,500 leaflets featuring the picture will be distributed to supporters and in the surrounding area.
The man pictured is suspected of trying to rape a 22-year-old woman near the Matalan store in Cheltenham town centre.
She was walking along Brunswick Street between 3.30am and 4am on February 3 when the incident happened.
The victim was approached by a man who asked her for directions and then pushed her, attempted to remove her clothes and sexually assaulted her before running off in the direction of St Margaret's Road.
Last week police said a cyclist might have seen the suspect.
They were travelling along Swindon Road into St Margaret's Road towards the town centre at 3.37am on the day.
A police spokesman said officers do not believe the Brunswick Street assault is linked to any other sex attacks.
Anyone who recognises the man from the police sketch or who has any information at all about the crime, should call Gloucestershire police on 101 and quoting incident number 92 of February 3.
