COMMUNITY groups across the city are being urged to take advantage of a pot of council cash made available to improve neighbourhoods.

Groups can receive between £500 and £2,000 to help them carry out work on community projects.

The neighbourhood grant funding is available throughout the year, but the project must be complete by March 2014.

Martin Shields, director for services and neighbourhoods at the city council said: "There are so many groups out there doing fantastic things in our communities, who we know could do with a little boost to help grow projects or start new ones. We want to help these people to carry on."

Grants are only available to groups and organisations operating projects in the city for local people.
