WITH Cheltenham Town youth players Zack Kotwica and Bobbie Dale back fighting fit in the squad, Bishop's Cleeve manager Alex Sykes wants to end a gruelling season on a high, claiming the maximum number of points from the side's two remaining league games.

Currently lying in 21st in the Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South and West but out of relegation trouble, the Villagers face Taunton Town tonight in their final home game (7.45pm) at Kayte Lane, before taking on Didcot Town on Saturday.

Sykes believes his squad are more than capable of beating Taunton and Didcot and reiterated he wanted his team to play for personal pride.

"We need to finish the season strongly," he said. "I want two wins, and I know we are capable of that.

"Let's go out a high note at home with three points."

With a weakened team, Sykes' men lost 2-1 to Cinderford Town on Tuesday.

A poorly defended corner and a goalkeeping error saw the Villagers trail 2-0 at half-time.

But the second half was much improved, Mike Jackson scoring a superb goal and Cleeve having a shot cleared off the line later in the game.

Sykes said: "It was a very close match and we should have got something out of it.

"But we just didn't quite do enough, which really sums up the season.

"But we really had a threadbare team. My assistant manager Steve Jones, aged 43, played a full match in midfield.

"It will take him about two days to recover!

"But now we have five or six key players coming back in to refresh the side to go out on a high."

With both Kotwica and Dale available to play after overcoming calf and groin injuries respectively, and Matt Rose, Mike Tambling and Scott Claridge also back in the squad, Sykes is feeling positive as the season draws to a close and called for plenty of support for the Villagers' final home game of the season.
