ELECTRICAL products manufacturer Mekufa Ltd has been fined £3,000 after a worker was injured in a fall.

Roger Bouskill, 63, from Tuffley, was helping remove redundant equipment at the Bristol Road business when the incident happened on March 28, 2012.

In a prosecution brought by the Health and Safety Executive, Cheltenham Magistrates' Court heard yesterday that Mr Bouskill was dismantling a large oven.

During the operation Mr Bouskill got on to the roof of the oven. It then toppled and knocked him two and a half metres to the ground.

He fractured his arm, suffered concussion and was unable to return to work for five weeks.

An investigation by HSE found there was no documented plan or risk assessment for the task, which was also unsupervised.

Mekufa (UK) Ltd, of Permali Park, pleaded guilty to breaching Regulation 4(1) of the Work at Height Regulations 2005. The company was fined £3,000 and ordered to pay costs of £3,569.
