Drug trafficking grandmother Lindsay Sandiford will lodge an appeal with Indonesia's highest court after losing a first bid to have her death sentence lifted, according to her lawyer.
The 56-year-old, from Cheltenham, was handed a death sentence after she was arrested nearly a year ago for smuggling cocaine with a street value of £1.5 million into Bali from Bangkok, Thailand.
The verdict was upheld by the Bali High Court earlier this month leaving Sandiford, formerly of Hester's Way and Warden Hill, one step closer to facing a firing squad.
Now she is set to appeal to Indonesia's Supreme Court against the decision.
"We are going to send the notification that we are appealing to the Supreme Court next week, on Tuesday or Wednesday," her lawyer Fadillah Agus told Agence France-Presse.
Sandiford, who has claimed she was forced to transport the drugs by a gang who threatened her children, was handed the death sentence in January in a shock decision.
Four other people accused in the case received jail terms ranging from one to six years.
If the Supreme Court rejects her appeal, she could seek a judicial review of the decision from the same court. After that, only the president can overule the sentence by granting clemency.
Cheltenham MP Martin Horwood has vowed not to give up in the fight to save her and has lobbied the Indonesian ambassador to the UK, urging against pressing ahead with the execution.
