Quedgeley's rising star Scott Redding will start today's Moto2 race from pole position for the very first time in Austin, Texas at the inaugural race at the Circuit of the Americas, writes Alannah Fellows. The 20-year-old had an impressive start to the weekend, dominating the timing sheets in free practise, finishing just behind world championship leader Pol Esparagro in combined times. Despite being held up by other riders in the remaining five minutes of the session, Scott managed to set a time of 2.10.577, narrowly pipping Japanese rider Takaaki Nakagami to the front spot. Kalex rider Redding's pole position time was over half a second faster than the rest of the 32 man field, securing his maiden pole position in style. The Marc VDS rider said on Saturday:"Today I got my first pole, it gives me even more confidence because I try so hard every time and I'm always the one that ends second. "My first pole position has been a long time coming, it's usually me in first position and at the last moment someone beats me to it. The tables have turned and I'm really enjoying it."
