The brutal Tongan back-rower claimed the Doug Wadley trophy, for his impressive ball-carrying and destructive line-breaking abilities.
Fijian flanker Qera finished second in the fans' vote, with full-back Rob Cook coming third.
Livewire scrum-half Dan Robson claimed the young player of the year award, with Freddie Burns coming third and Jonny May second.
The awards were presented on the Kingsholm field immediately after Gloucester's thumping 28-23 victory over Saracens.
While announcer Graham Spring was bidding a fond farewell to Bristol-bound Gloucester stalwart Pete Buxton, Jonny May grabbed the microphone and led the crowd in an impromptu chant of 'Bucko, Bucko'.
A fitting end to a typical Gloucester award, mixing humour and banter with the serious business to boot.
