Stroud High School Under 15s have followed in the footsteps of their Under 13 team by winning the Gloucestershire final of the Lady Taverners indoor competition.

The school cemented their position as the county's undisputed champions with a nail-biting two run win over Colston's in the final at UWE on April 16.

The Under 15s will now go on to compete in a regional play-off on April 25 for a place in the national final at Lord's. The Under 13s will play their regional round the day before.

Stroud High claimed the Under 15 title after winning all three of their matches. They beat Pates and Ribston Hall in their group before their victory over Colston's in the final. Their opponents made the last two following successes against Wyedean and Brimsham Green.

All six competing teams made the finals day after winning in the district rounds of the competition.

Gloucestershire Cricket Board clubs and programmes officer Lisa Pagett said: "Congratulations to Stroud High on their fantastic achievement. We wish them all the best in the regional rounds.

"The competition was really hard fought with just the odd wide or good shot being the difference between winning and losing in a number of matches. It is noticeable that the overall standard keeps improving each year and the gap between the sides is really small. This is testament to the continuing development of girls' cricket in the county."
