Terry Glastonbury - Conservative
I was born in Bream in 1947, married to Angela. We have two daughters and seven grandchildren.
I started work with Watts of Lydney in 1962 as an apprentice. I established my own business in retail pet supplies in Lydney in 1979 and it is now run by daughter.
I am proud that it is one of the longest established businesses in Lydney.
I have been a Forest of Dean district councillor since 2003 and a county councillor since 2009.
After spending most of my working life in Lydney I am passionate about its future and will fight for funding to get our town regenerated.
Jobs are hard to find for our youth in the Forest and for them to remain in the Forest we need quality employment.
I will strive to improve the area and make it attractive to employers thinking of moving to the area.
I will fight to make Lydney a town for the future.
James Greenwood - Green
I have lived in Lydney for just under 20 years, running a business and raising a family.
I can't promise anything, but if you elected me I would do everything in my power to see investments made in our infrastructure, from energy generation to transport to cycle paths to health.
The renewable energy sector alone could create over 7,000 new jobs and inject £400m into the local economy of the Forest each year.
A different vision for a new world.
Di Martin - Labour
Di is proud to have been chosen as a candidate for Lydney and, if successful, promises to give voice to the people she represents.
Born at the Dilke Memorial Hospital, she has lived and worked in the Forest of Dean throughout her life.
She has been a district councillor for 22 years and is currently leader of the Labour group. Di is actively involved in the voluntary and community sector, is a member of the Forest of Dean Health Forum and a board member of Two Rivers Housing.
She has actively campaigned against car parking charges and fought against cuts in vital services.
Di will support a £1 travel card for young people and wants more free school meals provided for children in real need.
As a Labour and Co-operative Party Candidate, Di supports a collaborative approach working with local people and their town and parish councils to solve local problems.
Alan Preest - UKIP
Alan Preest is a well known and experienced former county councillor, who was elected for UKIP, last year to Lydney Town Council.
Never frightened to speak his mind, Alan has led the UKIP campaign to abolish parking charges in our town centres, in support of local small businesses.
Alan said: "Improve local services by providing good management and sensible planning. Working closely with, and energising local volunteers and community groups.
"End EU open door immigration, and put local people first to reduce pressure on local services."
David Cooksley - Independent
I was born and educated in Lydney. I served for nine years in the Royal Navy.
After my service, I decided to settle back in Lydney, where I still live and ran my own l business here for over 30 years.
I was a founder member of the Forest of Dean Federation of Small Businesses and elected county councillor in 2009.
I'm authority governor of Lydney Church of England school and an avid supporter of local enterprise and voluntary organisations.
I'm currently involved in saving Lydney Town Hall from closure. I served on the county council community safety committee and access to education panel. I actively support local voluntary organisations, which I consider to be extremely important in the community.
My many friends and associations with Lydney have helped me commit to preserving our local heritage and way of life here and a successful result in the forthcoming election would help me to continue to do that.
