Four Gloucestershire students proved they could keep their cool in the kitchen as they made it through to the final of a TV national cookery competition.
The Star Bistro team, based at National Star College will now compete for the £20,000 top prize in ITV's Food Glorious Food.
They had to wow some tough judges - 150 WI ladies who chose the bistro's Star Pimm's summer jelly.
Pipping the smoked salmon cheesecake and the Cornish pasty, the WI judges called it "gorgeous", "full of flavour" and "so refreshing".
The team of four - students Georgina Ivins, 19, Rachel Janes, 20, Tristan Blick, 20, and former student Joe Cook - had just four hours to prepare 150 jellies in a commercial kitchen.
For Stroud student Tristan it meant creating 150 perfect star-shaped tuile biscuits to go with the jelly which is served with a zingy orange sauce.
"It's just a number - 150. We got with it. I had a hunch we'd make it through to the finals," said Tristan.
Georgina said it was nervous waiting for the results. "We all cried when we realised we had won. It was nerve wracking but we are all really proud of getting to the finals," she said.
The Star Bistro, a joint venture between National Star College and the Wiggly Worm charity, was launched a year ago.
Based at the college campus in Ullenwood, near Cheltenham, it is open to the public and prides itself on serving delicious dishes using good local produce.
The bistro allows the students to gain vital life skills and work in experience in a very real setting.
"Often people focus on what young people with disabilities can't do but here at National Star College we focus on what they can do. Food Glorious Food has been about showcasing their skills in the kitchen and the work place and we are very proud of them all," said Kathryn Rudd, college principal.
The college provides a range of work placements for young people with disabilities which are open to anyone in Gloucestershire.
The college supports more than 170 students with disabilities and a further 1600 people access its services throughout the UK.
The winner of the competition will see their dish mass produced by Marks & Spencer.
The Star Bistro team must wait until next week to see who they will face in the final which will be aired on April 24 at 8pm. The show is hosted by Loyd Grossman and Carol Vorderman.
The Star Bistro is open Monday-Friday from 11am-4pm. To reserve a table or find out more, please contact 01242 535984.
