A DISHWASHER burst into flames in Highnam this afternoon (Friday) in the latest incident of faulty appliances causing a serious danger in homes.
The fire service received a call from a distressed lady who's dishwasher was on fire in her home at Popes Mead, just before 1pm.
Following good fire safety advice, the woman switched off the electrics and evacuated the property with her dog.
Both fire appliances from Gloucester North and South Community Fire Stations attended the incident with a total crew of 10 tackling flames.
They were detained at the scene for around 50 minutes.
No one was injured.
More than a dozen serious fires have been blamed on faulty Bosch, Siemens and Neff dishwashers.
A batch of the appliances, made between 1999 and early 2005, are at risk of bursting into flames.
Owners are warned to not leave them on unattended.
