They arrived for the first day of filming at the restaurant in Suffolk Parade yesterday.
Today's shoot is expected to be their last of this series in Cheltenham.
A brief 'good morning' and a quick smile was all it took for TV star Benedict Cumberbatch to delight his fans when he arrived in Cheltenham to film Sherlock yesterday.
Dozens of teenage fans flocked to The Daffodil for the chance to see the world's most famous detective - and they were not disappointed.
Benedict, the star of the BBC hit show, arrived for filming at the restaurant in Suffolk Parade at 11.12am wearing a tweed flat cap and a couple of scarves.
A crowd had been waiting for the 36-year-old for hours and his arrival was enough to bring about a stunned silence.
But the quiet was short lived, quickly making way for teen-idol screams and shrieks just seconds later.
And as quickly as he had arrived he was gone, ushered into the warmth of The Daffodil for a day of shooting for season three of the cult programme which also stars The Hobbit star Martin Freeman.
Leah Clarke, 17, who lives in Golden Valley, had been planning her stake out of the restaurant ever since she first heard the news Sherlock was coming to Cheltenham.
Clutching her phone, complete with Sherlock Holmes case, she said: "I came to see how they are filming Sherlock. I am a huge fan of the show.
"I am a huge fan of Sherlock and I am also a huge fan of Benedict Cumberbatch.
"Today was a really exciting opportunity to see him."
Meanwhile, Bethany Diamond, 17, who made the journey to The Daffodil from her home in Abbeydale, said: "I am a fan of the show and of Benedict. We found out about it on the internet a few nights ago and we picked a random time to come down and luckily we chose the right time.
"I think Benedict is such a good actor and I have seen him in lots of different things."
After a good deal of screaming once Benedict Cumberbatch arrived, a very cold, but exceedingly happy, Bethany said: "That was totally worth it. We thought it had been an April Fool's joke when we heard he was coming.
"We met him at Cheltenham Literature Festival last year and he was so nice."
Penny Kent, who lives in Bishop's Cleeve, was stood on the doorstep of The Daffodil with her daughter Rubie and her daughter's friend Emilie Stubbs, when the actor flashed his smile.
She said: "We read about it on the Echo website and we have been on there every couple of hours.
"We are massive fans of the show."
