Cheltenham Town: Yates set for final loan swoop

Cheltenham Town boss Mark Yates is poised to make one final loan signing before Thursday's deadline for temporary transfers. With Michael Hector one yellow card away from a two-match ban, Yates is expected to bring in a young defender from a Championship club as cover. When interviewed on Wednesday morning, Yates said his dealings in the transfer window were complete, but the Echo understands there will in fact be one more arrival. Hector and veteran Steve Elliott are the current first choice central defensive pairing, with Keith Lowe also comfortable there if called upon. But with Luke McCullough recalled by Manchester United midway through the second month of his loan spell and former skipper Alan Bennett leaving at the end of January, Cheltenham will benefit from the extra defensive option. The Robins travel to second placed Port Vale on Friday before hosting Northampton Town on Monday - two matches that are likely to make or break their automatic promotion bid.
