But that country walk for the Haresfield family could have been very different if the incinerator had got the go-ahead.
"The decision was a complete shock," said Claire. "We didn't think they'd refuse it, let alone vote unanimously. We live in a rural community and we were worried about the health impacts so we are so grateful that the councillors have listened to us."
Claire saw an incinerator up close in November when she visited a similar facility in Denmark, pictured. She and other families protested at the Javelin Park plans last year.
