LIFE-threatening injuries were suffered by a driver after a collision with a bus.
Police are appealing for information after the crash between a silver Nissan Almera and a Stagecoach bus in Norbury Avenue, Matson, on Wednesday.
It is believed the 65-year-old man from Gloucester who was driving the car was taken ill at the wheel before the accident.
No one on the bus was injured in the incident.
One Norbury Avenue resident, who did not want to be named, said: "I did not see the crash itself but this road is really bad, it is always too busy with cars and buses going up and down all day.
"It takes me and my husband a while to get out of our driveway."
A police spokesman said a three-hour investigation took place after the crash, which happened at 11.15am, during which parts of Norbury Avenue were closed to traffic.
A spokesman for Stagecoach said: "At around 11.15am on Wednesday, a car was involved in a collision with one of our vehicles on Service 1 in Gloucester.
"It is understood that the car driver was taken ill prior to the incident and has since been transferred to hospital. Our immediate thoughts are for the person involved.
"There were no injuries to any bus passengers as a result of the incident."
Councillor Mary Smith (L, Matson and Robinswood), said: "It is extremely sad for the gentleman and his family.
"We are not sure of the reasons for the crash, however we will wait for the report to see if any appropriate action needs to be taken to make sure this does not happen again.
"We do not want to take any action to place anything on the stretch of road which is inappropriate."
Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are urged to please call 101, quoting incident 139 of March 19.
