LIVE music is on its way to Gloucester as a new business gears up to meet the demands of the city's revellers.
The Music Lounge is replacing Sonny's Tattoo Studio in Bull Lane and is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment.
It is due to open next week.
The redesign includes a refurbished loft space and intimate bar area and will welcome live music fans from across Gloucestershire and beyond.
City councillor Tarren Randle has played a key role in promoting Gloucester's evening economy group and welcomed its arrival.
"It's good that we are getting more and more people looking to invest in Gloucester's nightlife," she said.
"The results of the evening economy survey that was carried out showed what people wanted to see in the city, and live music was a popular choice.
"It is good to see investors taking notice of what people want and taking a chance.
"Hopefully that investment will be rewarded with a successful business."
Over 30s in Gloucester were asked what they wanted to see in the city at night in an online survey in December.
Results from the city council backed initiative showed the majority of people wanted to see live music in city venues. Of those who took part, 49 per cent wanted special events planned for the last Friday of each month.
Gloucester's newest indie night, Panic!, will launch on Friday, March 29 with the Music Lounge's resident DJ playing the best indie, rock, dance and alternative anthems.
The venue is promising regular drink deals with a range of themed-music evenings planned. Managers are also hoping to stage an open mic night, karaoke and alternative discos.
Manager of nearby The Westgate pub, John Huggins, welcomed the new addition to Gloucester's nightlife.
"Any new business that brings in more people into the city at night is a positive move," he said.
"Hopefully it will bring more people into The Westgate too.
"Gloucester has been crying out for more live music venues like this for some time.
"It is a bit tucked away in Bull Lane, but that could work to its advantage by attracting regulars once they know it's there."
Other venues to go down the live music road are Sloane's Bar in Brunswick Road and The Station Hotel on Bruton Way.
Feeding popular demand, The Station is also hosting a karaoke night on Fridays.
