GETTING a short sharp shave isn't normally part of the deal when it comes to working at Tesco in Bishop's Cleeve.
But staff members taking part in a charity head shave in aid of Cancer Research UK were more than happy to get rid of their locks to raise money for the charity.
Employees raised well more than £1,000 for their sacrifice.
Shaun McGowan, 21, who is stock control leader at the Bishop's Cleeve store, said he "was absolutely over the moon" when he'd heard just how much he, and his five other colleagues who got a grade one crop for sponsorship, had raised.
Talking about the lead-up to the shave, Shaun, who lives in Winchcombe, said: "My hair was reasonably long before – a long boy's cut with a side parting.
"I knew it was for a good cause, and that raising money would obviously be far more beneficial to them than me having a head of hair.
"I did start to get nervous on the day.
"But it has grown quite a bit already, and everyone says it doesn't look that bad, so I'm getting used to it.
"It was the first time I'd taken part in anything like this, so I'm really proud of my colleagues for taking part."
