FORMER child star Mark Lester was used to the spotlight as a youngster.
But it is now his own teenage son who is facing his own brush with stardom after being picked to play a role alongside his famous father.
Mark, who played the title role in the 1968 musical Oliver! at the tender age of 10, will be starring in a new film with his son Felix.
The 13-year-old and his dad have both been cast in 1066.
And for Mark, 54, who will be playing King Harold, this will be his first film in more than 30 years.
Felix, a pupil at Winchcombe School, will be playing his son, Godwin.
The film, based on the book Harold the King by Helen Hollick, tells the story behind the bloody battle against the Normans.
Mark, now an osteopath living in Cheltenham, admitted he was looking forward to getting back in front of the cameras.
He said: "I read the script and the book and it is a really good story that has never been made into a film before and so straight away I put my name to it.
"I took my son to one of the big battle re-enactments near Hastings in October and when we went down we realised they wanted someone to play his son and Felix was asked.
"He has done some acting at school, but never a film. He is quite excited about the whole thing.
"It's 30 years since I've done a movie. I think it will be fun.
"This will be a great film, similar to a movie like Gladiator. It is such a strong story, it will be a success."
The movie is in the pre-production stages and the filmmakers behind it are in the process of getting financial backing.
When the money has been raised, filming will take place in Wales for two weeks.
Felix is not the only one of Mark's four children to have a flare for performing – his 17-year-old daughter, Olivia, is also interested in acting.
