FOR jobless Kirsty Jackson, just one of the 330 jobs being created at the new Morrisons at the Railway Triangle would make her happy.

The 22-year-old, from Barton, lost her job five weeks ago. The new Morrisons, which is set to open in November, can't come quick enough.

She said: "I have applied for so many jobs but it is like hitting a brick wall."

She reached out to employment minister Mark Hoban MP who visited Gloucester yesterday to meet Barton residents with Gloucester city MP Richard Graham.

Labourer Dave Peart, 21, from Eastgate Street, has been out of work for one year. He said: "I'd love to be able to work again. A part-time job at Morrisons would be ideal because I could work but keep my housing benefit so I wouldn't be made homeless."

Mark Hoban, who heads up the Government's back-to-work plans, told Dave: "It can be hard at times. But now there's a chance for you. There are some good examples out there to show that anyone can get back into work with the right opportunities."
