COUNTY councillors will be doing their bit for Comic Relief today by climbing the steps of Shire Hall.
A team of 15 staff, led by council leader Mark Hawthorne and chief executive Peter Bungard will be climbing the 36 steps a massive 1,075 times.
Their efforts will replicate the distance scaled by celebrities who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania for Comic Relief in 20009.
Mr Hawthorne said: "This is a great cause and I'm very happy to be doing my bit. Good luck to the team, I imagine there will be some very sore legs in the office on Thursday."
Council staff are also holding a cake sale from 10.30-12pm today at the council's Business Service Centre and staff will be dressing up in 1980s gear for work on Friday.
Mr Bungard said: "As ever, I am very, very proud of our staff for showing innovation in everything they do, including charity fundraising.
"I look forward to doing my bit."
