A church restoration fund has got off to a flying start raising £400 in its first week alone.
Quedgeley's St James' Church has launched a campaign for its upcoming renovation.
The money was raised at a coffee morning.
The church costs some £60,000 to run each year.
But an inspection report revealed there were areas of the church that may prove costly to renovate.
The church is a Grade-II listed building. The spire dates back to the 14th century and the church itself was refurbished in the 1800s.
Reverend John Ward, rector and parish priest, said: "A big thank you to everyone who supported us.
"The cost of renovating churches as ancient as St. James' can be huge, but it is Quedgeley's little gem and we need to ensure it is preserved for future generations.
"I feel sure that this will be the first of many fund raising events and I look forward to the local community supporting us with the same enthusiasm they showed today.

County councillor Jackie Hall (C, Quedgeley) said: "Personally I can't imagine Quedgeley without St James', whether you worship there or not it is very much part of the community.
"I would urge all local residents to support any future fund raising events to help preserve this beautiful building."
Kevin Tudor, chairman of Quedgeley Community Trust, said: "It was a great morning and well supported by many people. I look forward to attending many more fund raising events and working with the PCC and Rector to see what more community groups can do to assist."
