COUNCIL bosses are working together to try and ensure traffic flows as smoothly as possible through Cheltenham during Gold Cup week.
Cheltenham Borough Council and Gloucestershire County Council have come up with a blueprint to keep people moving between March 12 and 15.
Trevor Gladding, community protection manager for the borough council, said: "We are working with the county council to ensure that traffic going to and from the festival is managed as well as possible, and that any travel disruption is kept to a minimum.
"We have made some significant changes to the traffic orders in respect of Albert Road, New Barn Lane and Hill Court Road this year, and we hope that this will help keep the traffic flowing."
Jim Daniels, county council parking manager, added: "During race week, Cheltenham sees an influx of visitors, which means there's a lot more traffic on the roads.
"We're working with the borough council to keep traffic moving through the town, getting visitors to the event with minimum disruption."

There will also be additional signage around the town centre to help direct people to taxis, buses and toilet facilities; and additional toilets will also be available.
