BUSINESS owner David Purchase has pulled the plug on his radio and is instead inviting local musicians to perform in his shop.
Mr Purchase, who pays £80 a year to have the radio playing at his business On Toast at the Docks, says he is fed up of music license companies PPL, PRS and MCPS fighting with each other for a share of the money. Therefore, he has come up with a drastic solution.
He said: "I have no problem in fairly paying royalties, but when there seems to be at least three organisations jostling for money for the same performance then you have to question the legislation they work to.
"There should be one fair license for all.
"I am now offering local Gloucestershire singers, groups and so on, who have produced unlicensed material, to play their music at On Toast."
The new initiative kicked off this weekend with David's son's band performing.
