POLICE have cordoned off an alleyway in London Road and arrested a man on suspicion of rape.
Officers were called out at 1.55am this morning after a woman was sexually assaulted in an area between Catridge World and the railway bridge.
They carried out a search in the city and at 2.40am arrested a 37-year-old man from Broadheath in Cheshire at the Asda supermarket in Bruton Way.
The area remains cordoned off this morning while forensic investigations take place.
