CINDERFORD 33 TYNEDALE 20
CINDERFORD wing Nev Codlin grabbed his fifth try in three National One games as his side recorded back-to-back victories.
The Foresters followed up last week's drubbing of Fylde with a second consecutive home bonus-point win that was yet again built on solid defence.
Codlin typified his side's great defensive work after just seven minutes when he stepped off his wing to thwart an attack with men waiting outside.
Despite holding the Northumberland outfit for multiple phases through fantastic tackling, Tynedale finally broke the whitewash on 11 minutes.
With men queueing up out wide, the ball was spun out to wing Hamish Smales who easily dotted down but fly-half Matthew Outson missed the conversion.
Outson's opposite number Mark Davies had the chance to cut into the lead with a penalty after 18 minutes but he pulled his attempt wide.
Cinderford took the lead with a quarter of the game gone when full-back Mike Wilcox sliced his way through the defence to dot down with Davies on target.
But Tynedale then camped in the home side's 22 for the next five minutes with more good defence meeting them only for the pressure to eventually yield a penalty.
The kick went to the corner and the catch and drive lineout was held up with the ensuing ruck from the five-metre scrum winning a simple penalty kick for Smales for 8-7.
The hosts had the final word of the half when Codlin ignored the men outside him to shoot over the line and Davies converted to make it 14-8 at the break.
Codlin picked up where he left off with his second try after 52 minutes when a long pass released Wilcox before passing to Dewi Scourfield who sent Codlin over but Davies missed.
Smales equalled Codlin's tally when he just squeezed over in the corner three minutes later for his second with Outson's missed kick leaving it at 19-13.
Cinderford centre Kai Done was then rewarded for not giving up a kick chase on the hour and won the ball in Tynedale's 22.
Play quickly swept went wide for hooker Tom Bozzard to cut in and offload to Lloyd Stapleton metres out to seal a bonus point with Davies' kick making it 26-13.
But Smales grabbed his hat-trick on 66 minutes when he swatted off tackles in his half and shot up the touchline with replacement George Cullen pulling within six.
Cinderford then squeezed out the game when Tynedale openside Sam Reynolds was sin-binned for killing the ball with the penalty going to touch and the catch and drive rumbling over.
Debutant and England Sevens star Jack Preece emerged with the ball for his side's fifth try with six minutes left as Davies knocked over the extras to seal the success.
